Lemonade is a must for summer, right? It’s a delicious way to beat the heat, especially when it’s homemade.
One of my favorite things about lemonade is that it pairs so well with other flavors. Watermelon lemonade, anyone? And today’s recipe is no exception to this statement.
This easy Blueberry Lemonade recipe is unique for a few reasons. Not only is it made with club soda so it’s a fun, bubbly drink, but it’s also made with a little bit of maple syrup. Not too much that it’s overpowering, but enough to yield a rich flavor that pairs with the blueberry lemonade flavors perfectly.
Kids and and adults will love this sparkling blueberry lemonade drink recipe so it’s a great choice for backyard barbecues, too!
Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade Ingredients
To make this non-alcoholic summer drink, you’ll need:
- 1 Cup Blueberries
- 3 Tbsp Mint
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
- 3 Tbsp Honey
- 3 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Lemon Juice
- 1 Cup Club Soda
- Ice Cubes
Fresh Versus Frozen: If you have fresh blueberries to make this sparkling blueberry lemonade, I’d highly recommend using them. But it can easily be made with frozen blueberries as well.
Garnishes: If you want to garnish your blueberry lemonade, consider fresh mint or blueberries or even some lemon wedges.
How to Make Blueberry Lemonade
First, you’ll need to make the blueberry simple syrup. Combine the blueberries, mint, maple syrup, honey, and 1/4 cup of water in a small saucepan.
Simmer the mixture over medium heat until it’s heated through and has started to thicken. This should be about 4-5 minutes or so. As it’s simmering, press the blueberries with a wooden spoon to release the juices. Stir regularly.
Remove the simple syrup from the heat and pour through a fine mesh strainer to separate the liquids and solids. Reserve the liquid and let cool.
In a larger pitcher, add the remaining water and lemon juice. Add in a small amount of the simple syrup and stir. Taste and add more of the simple syrup (if needed) until it’s reached the desired flavor.
Fill 4 glasses with ice and fill each approximately 2/3 full with the blueberry lemonade. Top off each cup with club soda and garnish with any of your chosen garnishes.
