I’m not sure how many of you know this, but Nathan and I met online via Eharmony. I cannot for the life of me remember all of the extensive questions you have to answer for your profile when you sign-up, but I do know that it was long. And detailed. And when you were matched with some people that clearly were the opposite of your type, you wondered what the hell you answered wrong.
Luckily, with Nathan and I that was far from the case. I can’t think of a single thing we didn’t have in common to some extent. Similar music tastes, a crazy love for all kinds of movies, a need for delicious food, and a passion for traveling the world. Our love for traveling is what filled our nightly discussions over the phone or email before we really got serious and then even more so once we were a couple. Before we even made the awkward boyfriend/girlfriend decision, we had already talked about our first trip: Los Angeles. I had been there and was dying to go back with the right person, which (even thought we weren’t together yet and it was my decision) I think I already knew was him.
We’ve since been to Minnesota, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, New York, Canada, Jamaica, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Washington D.C, Pennsylvania, Florida, California, Cancun, Cozumel, and Iowa. And the list of the places we want to go together but haven’t yet? Massive. I’m pretty sure I could name at least one place for every letter in the alphabet (other than maybe x, y, and z?) that we want to go.
For us, every trip is like a new beginning for us. A new memory we now have with each other. A new experience to grow from together. A new checkmark on our bucket list to see the things we’ve accomplished together. Not to mention the trip planning! That’s a whole event in itself. I tend to go a little overboard when it comes to finding things to do, places to go, and things to see so I always have to be over-prepared.
And the one thing I love most about the #TargetWedding Registry? It’s got you covered. Even if you’re not getting married or buying gifts for that lovely, soon-to-be married couple – it’s a must see. Because no matter where you’re going or what you’re doing, they’ve got great ideas on what to bring and what to pair.
Here are a few of my favorite picks for our usual trips:
