How to Stay Healthy During Winter

How-to-Stay-Healthy-During-Winter
We’ve finally dipped into the teens for our lows and that means one thing: Winter is much closer than I was ready for! I was okay with the snow that came and rarely stuck but these frigid temperatures are just a reminder that it’s even more important to focus on staying healthy. I absolutely loathe getting sick no matter what time of the year, but as most people know – Winter is notorious for leaving me feeling a bit under the weather. So I’m working hard to do the right things this year and wanted to share a few tips on how to stay healthy during Winter.How-to-Stay-Healthy-During-Winter---Eat-Right

Eat right

Make sure your body functions as it normally should by ensuring that you’re eating plenty of fruits and vegetables even during the Winter time. Foods that are high in Vitamin C will help give your immune system a boost as well. Opt for Winter vegetables as they’ll taste the best and if you’re struggling to consume the recommended daily amount, try smoothies or juicing.

Stay clean

Washing hands and household fixtures regularly is crucial to keeping bacteria and viruses at bay. Keep these reusable disinfecting wipes or this waterless cleaner on hand for all of your normal cleaning. As for your hands, hand sanitizer is a must this time of year when colds run rampant (especially in workplaces!)

Get moving

Regular exercise is ideal every season to help keep your body in tip top shape. But it’s even more important during the Winter to help your immune system fight off those nasty cold. It’s a great time to try a new activity, indoors or outdoors. Snowshoeing, skiing, ice-skating, yoga, a class at your local gym, etc. Anything to get you moving most days of the week is a great way to stay healthy and prevent those holiday pounds from sticking around too long!

Sleep tight

It’s all about helping your immune system function at high gear during the Winter and getting enough sleep is yet another way to help it out. Creating a nighttime routine is the perfect way to help ensure that you’re getting enough zZz’s every day.

Socialize

The bitter cold sets in and no one wants to leave there house. I’m 100% guilty of this and it’s a bad habit that needs to be fixed! Instead of hibernating, spend some time with friends and family on a regular basis. Even better, spend that time socializing by exercising together or making healthy meals together so you can kill two birds with one stone!

Drink enough water

Want to boost your immune system even further? Down that water! Getting enough water is crucial to staying healthy all year long, but it’s especially important during Winter when that refreshing ice-cold drink isn’t a high priority. Healthy levels of hydration can also help increase energy levels, regulate circulation and digestion, and improve overall skin complexion.

Getting enough water doesn’t have to be hard though. Especially with the new Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid. I’ve been using this bottle with smart lid for awhile now and I feel like my water intake has never been better. The Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid continually monitors your water intake and communicates to a connected compatible Apple device via Bluetooth® Smart technology to help you achieve your daily hydration goals. You no longer have to second guess if you’ve hit your daily goal or even keep track of it at all – the Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid does all the work for you! And it’s perfect for  this time of year, when things are hectic and I’m a little preoccupied with the holiday hustle.
