In less than two weeks, we’ll be in the sunshine state. And it’s already September. I don’t even know where time goes anymore!
Back in the beginning of August, I was struggling. Our trying to conceive journey has been much harder than I anticipated and the emotional toll it’s taken on me is far beyond what I ever imagined. I’m not a silent struggler and very much so an open book so Nathan was quite aware how tough 2015 has been on me. Luckily, I couldn’t have asked for a better husband and he knew exactly what I needed. A vacation. So he suggested a trip, we talked about all different places (from Hawaii to Yellowstone), finally decided on Florida and had less than a month till we’d be crossing off an item on our bucket list: snorkeling in the Florida Keys.
Not only that, but this will be our longest road trip together. I loved our NY/Niagara Falls road trip so I just know this will be even better. I’m ready for some road trip tunes, snacks, and seeing more than cornfields and farms in some cities that I haven’t been through since I was really young.
We’ll be driving from our small town down through Chicago and Indianapolis. Probably stopping in Nashville and Atlanta (either on the way down or back.) And then hitting the sunshine state for stops in the Tampa area, the Florida Keys, and Orlando. We’ll be soaking up the sun, snorkeling, swimming with manatees, spending time with family, visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the second time and so much more. Just thinking about our plans makes me want to forget about my ever-growing pile of work that needs to get done before we go and just take off!
I have no idea what the rest of the year holds for us, but I do know that this trip is exactly what I need right now. And I cannot wait to take too many photos, eat way too much food, get more than my share of sun, and come back with no ambition to work ;)
I’d love to know: what has been your longest road trip?
