So the reason I’ve been a little quiet is because our little girl came a few days early!
My water broke last Wednesday night and 17.5 hours later, Lily was born! Labor was absolutely nothing like I imagined, but the reward was absolutely worth it. She is absolutely perfect and other than a bit of an initial struggle with jaundice, she is healthy as can be.
The past week has been a whirlwind.
I’m tired and sore and usually unsure of the day or time. I had no idea my body could actually function on this little sleep and still accomplish anything. But every single second of the sleep deprivation is worth it.
While I never understood how little sleep I could run on, I also never understood how much I could love someone until she was born. I love Nathan dearly, but nothing compares to the love I have for her. The smiles, the faces, the finger grabs – none of it is ever boring to watch.
It’s only been one week, but I can’t imagine life without her now. She’s added such a different dimension to our life and I can’t wait to see what the next week, month, and year brings.
