Craving something sweet and salty? This 5 minute single serve junk food mug brownie is the perfect indulgent treat for you to enjoy!
Whenever we go to the movies, one of my favorite things to indulge in is popcorn with something chocolatey. Goobers, M&Ms, Snocaps – you name it. There is something that is already making my mouth water just thinking about it. YUM! If you don’t believe me, just check out these Popcorn and Candy Movie Night Bites!
But that’s not the only place I love the sweet and salty combo of unhealthy foods.
I’m a sucker for sweet and salty granola bars, trail mixes, desserts and pretty much anything else that brings this delicious combination together. Which is the reason behind today’s heavenly dessert that cures any sweet and salty craving.
I’ve made these single serve mug brownies for awhile now and they’ve always been one of my favorite quick desserts when I’m not up for making a whole pan of brownies. But… I’ve never made them this way until recently. And let me just say the previous recipe has now been put to shame.
This junk food mug brownie is ahhmazing.
Seriously. If I had dreams I remembered, they’d be about this. And I’d probably wake up drooling every. single. time. I’m an emotional eater, both good and bad, and this junk food mug brownie is the answer to every emotion. Celebrating a milestone? Junk food mug brownie. Sad that your favorite TV show character was killed off? Junk food mug brownie. In pain because you stubbed your toe? You guessed it – junk food mug brownie.
And one of the best things about this recipe is that it’s made with super common pantry items. So when that craving hits, you just have five minutes until you can satisfy your ooey gooey deletable dreams. Sweet dreams really are made of these.
5 MINUTE JUNK FOOD BROWNIE
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Tbsp Skim Milk
- 1/4 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Flour
- 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tbsp Almonds Sliced
- 1 Tbsp M&Ms
- 1 Tbsp Goobers
- Optional Toppings: More M&Ms more Goobers, and crushed potato chips
Soften the butter in your mug/dish in the microwave (I microwaved it for 30 seconds in our microwave)
Add in the milk and vanilla extract, then mix thoroughly.
Add in the salt, brown sugar, white sugar, flour and cocoa powder. Mix until well combined.
Mix in the almonds, M&Ms and goobers.
Warm up in the microwave for 60 – 80 seconds.
Top with Goobers, M&Ms and crushed potato chips
Be very careful when cooking and always start on the low side unless you want a dry brownie. Test doneness by sticking one in the middle and if it comes out clean, it’s done. If it’s not clean, try for 5-10 seconds at a time to ensure that you don’t overcook it.
